Abracadabra – “I will create as I speak”
A trusted and wise teacher recently taught me that the word “Abracadabra” means – “I will create as I speak.” For some reason hearing that definition resonated with me. A few months after learning that definition, it was confirmed again when I was watching a magician who shared the same insight.
Even though magicians make it seem as simple as waving a wand, the truth is, achieving your dreams first starts with a thought and then takes work.
Dreaming isn’t only for the young
Often, we reach a certain age, and we stop dreaming, creating, and working toward new goals. No matter our age, we have the power to create our dreams.
Dreams and goals can help propel us into new stages of our lives. They energize us and keep us learning and growing. Also, don’t put a limit on your dreams. Anything is possible!
Abracadabra can work both ways
Just like Abracadabra (I will create as I speak) can work to create positive effects, it can also create negative effects if you let it. I excitedly started EmbracingGolden.com in 2022 and made a few posts. But this is my first post in over a year, because I spoke my doubts into existence and allowed them to stop me from moving forward:
- I can’t use WordPress and it’s too hard to learn
- Nobody wants to hear what I have to say
- I just need someone to help show me what to do
Take it from me – don’t allow limiting thoughts to stop you! You were given the desire to achieve your dream for a reason. You’re the best person to make it happen. No one can do it exactly like you.
Turn those dreams into reality
Here are a few steps to keep in mind as you work toward your dreams:
- Define your dream
- What is it that you want to accomplish? Be as specific as you can. Think about your dream and imagine achieving it.
- Create a plan
- Break your dream into small steps and include what you’ll need to do to achieve each step. Add timelines to help keep yourself on track.
- Brush up on needed skills
- Do you currently have the skills you need to achieve your dream? If not, what can you do to gain those skills? Do you need to take a course, align yourself with experts, read a book, or watch a YouTube video? All are great ways to learn. I completed a course and got assistance from an expert to help push me past my stumbling block to relaunch this blog. I’ll share more about the valuable help I received in my next blog post in a couple of weeks, so stay tuned.
- Surround yourself with support
- Having encouragement along the way is invaluable. I connect with a group of like-minded women on a regular basis, and we encourage and push each other to achieve our dreams. In fact, EmbracingGolden.com came about because of their encouragement.
- Stay focused and motivated, but also flexible
- This isn’t always easy, and you may experience some stops, starts, and twists along the way. But remain focused on your end goal and do whatever it takes to keep yourself motivated. For example, once I learned the meaning of Abracadabra, it became an inspiring mantra for me, and I had a personalized bracelet made as a reminder, as you can see in the photo.
- Celebrate your successes
- It’s important to take time to celebrate what you’ve accomplished. Sometimes when you’re in the midst of everything it’s hard to see the progress you’ve made. But take a step back to see how far you’ve come. Acknowledging your accomplishments also helps keep you motivated to achieve even more.
Create what you speak. Take the first step by sharing your dreams in the comments.
What dreams are you committed to achieving? What’s on your list? I won’t call it a bucket list because a bucket is small and limiting. This is an ocean list because you should have large and unlimited dreams, that you continue to pour yourself into.
Let’s keep dreaming, and achieving, together! Share your dreams in the comments. We can support each other.
