Many of us make to-do lists. Most of the time it’s about responsibilities, chores, errands, etc. Then at a certain age people start talking about a bucket list – things they want to do before they “kick the bucket” and die.
Let’s reframe that with gratitude and start creating a “Get to Do list.” Lists that remind us of the many people, things and places in our lives that bring us joy and happiness. Lists that keep us on a path of learning and growing. And that opens us up to new adventures and possibilities.
Make yours a living list
We sometimes create resolution lists once a year. And often, that list gets tucked away and forgotten as the weeks and months pass.
Make yours a living list, and review and update it on a regular basis. Your list should grow with you and be flexible. You’ll feel pride when reviewing the things you’ve accomplished and excitement for those things that are next to accomplish.
And don’t feel bad if there is something on the list you don’t accomplish – with self-compassion know that you’ll do it next time.
Here’s a sneak peek at my list
I just created a new list last week and hung it on the wall as a daily reminder. Check in with me to see how it’s going.
